Covid 19 update for Tenerife

Published on 23rd April 2020

You are probably sick of hearing about the coronavirus but we would like to keep you informed of some news regarding the current lockdown.

It has just been announced by the Spanish government that the lockdown for the Corona Virus has been extended until the 9th of May 2020.

They also mentioned in congress that children under the age of 14 will be allowed out after the 27th April 2020 providing that they accompanied by an adult. They are only allowed to places like the supermarket, chemists, doctors or other places of necessity.

The president, Pedro Sanchez also mentioned that he hopes to start lifting the restrictions by the second half of May 2020 depending on the statistics of the virus and by also following scientist’s advice.

The Canarian government is pressurising the main government to ease the lockdown in the Canary Islands due to the fact that there is very little contamination seeing as the islands are isolated. They say that if this was to happen, there would have to be strict controls and a staggered approach for opening businesses. It is still in the early stages of negotiations and we hope to hear more information very soon.

Wishing you all well and we hope to see you personally very soon.
